Het debuutalbum van Erik de Jong was ongehoord. Alles klonk volkomen nieuw. De muziek, de ogenschijnlijke warboel aan samples, elektronica, beat en ‘echte’ instrumenten, bleek bij iedere beluistering meer gestructureerd. De Nederlandse teksten waren van een originaliteit en zeggingskracht die eenmaal binnengekomen nooit meer zou ontsnappen.

De Jong was met zijn 41 jaar een laatbloeier die, zo schreven journalisten en duiders tot vervelens toe, woonde in Nieuwegein, werkte bij de Post en die zijn muziek op zijn zolderkamer in elkaar had ‘geknutseld’. Met hits als Bagagedrager en Smalfilm leverde Spinvis een iconisch album af dat niks in zeggingskracht heeft ingeboet.

It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.
