When there's Rhythm people will move, and moving people was the fate for these two songs from Spanish Supergroup Barrabas. Originally released in 1972 on RCA Spain, Wild Safari and Woman would become underground hits among New York City disc jockeys at time when Discotheques preceded disco music. Over the years It has been well documented that the music from the Iberian Rockers and in particular their song Woman found a home in both Nicky Siano's Gallery and in David Mancuso's Legendary Loft around 1973. Curiously but perhaps not surprising, a few years later Woman would also become a breakers anthem in a nascent hip-hop scene, where having obscure or ultimate breaks would separate a Grandmaster from the rest of the flock.
The Story behind Barrabas is quite peculiar as well. With members from various Latin countries (Cuba, Philipines, Portugal and Spain), the band led by Fernando Arbex were accidental pioneers in a sense, blending Latin, African, and American influences into a package destined to move people across the globe. With a successful debut album, Barrabas was one of the first international groups to leave its mark on the disco circuit with these two hit singles. Woman and Wild Safari charted well in various countries across Europe and the Americas, including the USA and Canada.
Although the group never followed up the success of their first LP, the legacy of tracks like Woman and Wild Safari is treasured by the DJs who have studied the histories of clubs like the Paradise Garage and The Loft. Its really not surprising to find a decade later in the 80s, High Energy and Freestyle covers of Woman or the groove sampled into a House Music beat even to this day. There was indeed something about that Woman.
Recently, HBO's Show Vinyl paid homage to Wild Safari in a scene that more than symbolically depicted the birth of the disco era as we would come to know it.

Only for real men...
Style: Rough Exfoliation
So much crying here. This is not a luxurious sponge. But if your are a man, this is the hot ticket. Coarse but not like a cheese grater. Holds liquid soap well. Foams well. The elastic strap let's you keep hold of it easily and will reverse over the pad so you can use either side. Leaves your skin pink and fresh... in a manly sort of way. 😉

SELF TANNERS MUST HAVE!!
Style: Rough Exfoliation
This product is perfect for those of us who use self tanners!! For self tanners to work well and not look splotchy one needs well exfoliated skin and this sponge is exactly the right tool for the task! My skin feels so much softer, my self tanner working much better and my body lotion seems to absorb more quickly. These sponges are easy to hold and have a loop to hang from while they dry.
Every week when I wash my towels I toss the sponge(s) into a lingerie bag and wash with the towels. I always hang to dry so no idea how they’d handle a dryer.
I will never be without these sponges!

If you like it rough (enough)...
Style: Rough Exfoliation
Perhaps a tad rough for some, the Caveem scrubbers are ideal for me- rough, but not cheese-grater-aggressive. I have been using the first of my two pack for almost three months and, beyond a slight "softening" of the surface, it is in perfect shape- no deformation, no open seams, no tears, thin spots, or defects of any kind. It looks and works like near-new. The sponge is a great size for man hands- basically 6" x 4", and is thick enough to hold ample soap and water to cover quite a bit of skin without reloading. The strap is comfortable and sturdy and, perhaps trivial, but the colors are manly without branding with skulls or wrenches or some other compensatory masculine iconography!
I am very satisfied and if they ever wear out, I will happily purchase again.

Good quality for the price
Style: Rough Exfoliation, Style: Rough Exfoliation
Great product for the price! I like a good scrub and this product is the perfect amount of toughness but gentle enough so my skin is not negatively impacted. Its wide although an adjustable strap would have been amazing, its a great size and I appreciate it coming with two!! Easy to use and Holds soap and lather excellent.
